STEVE PORTER finally touches down back in NYC after a whirlwind global DJ tour to celebrate his official NYC PORTERHOUSE Vol.2 (2xCD LP) album release party, along with his birthday extravaganza at award-winning club Sullivan Room on Saturday, June 30th with the cream of new homegrown talent Eli Wilkie and Bons.

Steve Porter’s second volume of his mix compilation series ‘PORTERHOUSE 2′ compiles a staggering 57 club tracks that are mixed and mutated together on 2xCDs in his unrivaled genre defying, pulsating, energetic style. Porter’s mastery of programming and polished blue streak mixing style is a roller coaster journey, shaped and re-edited into a spine-tingling hi-octane double-disc extravaganza..

“Porterhouse Vol. 2” also merges Steve Porter’s DJing and production style, featuring 14 of his own original tracks and remixes, further blurring the distinction between DJ and producer into one completely compelling musical maestro. With this album Boston’s finest NYC resident raises the bar once more with two discs of pure party exhilaration. The secret lies in Porter’s ability to cut to the chase, filleting the prime essence of each track and moving on (akin to a funky house Jeff Mills or Carl Cox, if that’s possible), which means there’s absolutely no room for boredom. It’s highly skilled, refreshing, flashy and most importantly for any discerning music lover, made to shake your groove thing.

With a track selection that includes contributions by Paul Rincon, Golden Girls, Slacker, Soul Of Man, Sucker DJs, Way Out West, Plump DJs, Richard F, Max Graham, Judge Jules, and Bassbin Twins, the original Porterhouse music philosophy of “music with no boundaries” is adhered to with strong conviction. With so many mix compilations on the market today, Steve Porter is able to stand out by utilising a wide array of tracks through what he considers the four essential food groups of dance music - breaks, house, techno, and shite. Then it’s his showmanship and skilled mastery of how to engage the dancefloor that sets Steve apart. What is evident throughout is his love of musical, melodic sounds, as piano lines, synths and guitars flow in and out throughout funked-up house beats, breaks interludes, and techno twists. Quite simply, this isn’t minimal this is maximal, and unashamedly so!

It’s largely a family affair in terms of much of the artist selection too – alongside Porter’s own originals and remixes, there are tracks from long-term collaborators and rising future talent like Emjae, Chris Micali, Island 9, Aaryn Blain, Matt Rowan, and Roger Lee. All tried and trusted hands in the ‘fantasy funk’ experience emanating from Steve’s homegrown Boston music scene. With the quality on display here “Porterhouse” continues to provide an essential platform for some of the freshest new talent to emerge from the USA.

ENTER the RHYTHMISM.COM CONTEST and win a Complimentary VIP admission for four plus table service and the new ‘Porterhouse 2′ album.

Critical press praise for PORTERHOUSE:

“Boston’s finest really raises the bar with this funked-up house cracker which manages to cram 26 tracks into a single disc of party, party, party. The secret here is that Porter cuts to the chase, filleting the prime essence of a track and moving on (like a funky house Jeff Mills if that’s possible) which means roughly two-and-a-half minutes a song and absolutely no room for boredom. It’s highly skilled, refreshing, flashy and most importantly, butt-wigglingly good news for the dancefloor. You won’t hear a better mix this year, honest.” M8 – Compilation Of The Month

“Fans craving a juicy slab of twisted and techy regressive house will be in full slobber at DJ-producer Steve Porter’s [Porterhouse] soiree.” – Time Out New York

“Steve Porter is part of a new generation of DJs taking regressive music out of the dark. His signature “Porterhouse” sound puts the melody, music and funk back into a genre that had gained criticism for being boring, repetitive and anything but regressive”. –Ottawa Express

“Master mixer Steve Porter blends all kinds of dance rhythms into a sizzling stew.”
– Miami Herald

DJ Mag 2006 Top 100 new entry #91. “Porter keeps it on a high by carving out the juiciest chunks to savour, thus creating his own extremely tasty brand of house that is totally accessible yet effortlessly cool.” – DJ Mag

“What is evident in this mix is Porter’s love of a musical, melodic sounds as piano lines, synths and guitars flow in and out. Yet it’s the basslines and low-end percussion that are as much a driver of ‘Porterhouse’, a sound that should rock any self-respecting dancefloor.” -IDJ

“Porter’s sound continues to take on new proportions, infecting our minds with a nu-generation of no-holds barred dancefloor music taking on a life of its own.” – ResidentAdvisor.net
