Made a dope remix, now what?
Friday, January 23rd, 2009

So, you’ve made what you think is a killer remix, using a readily available acapella from iTunes from a famous artist. Now, do you try to get it to the artist or their management/label to get it heard, or do you do like so many people these days and just put it out there–Myspace, Youtube, etc. etc, regardless of copyright law and the Terms and Conditions of those sites? People do it all the time, and some launch careers that way. Has the game changed enough in this digital world where that’s the best shot at getting heard, legal or not, or do you play it safe and try to go up the “proper” channels?
Or, do you send it out to DJs? Is that legal?
What do YOU guys do? Personally I can’t afford a lawyer if something goes south;)
